6 Piano Sonatinas, Op.36

Targeted at Intermediate players (mid-tier conservatory syllabus (ABRSM Grade 5 standard)), this score presents rewarding interpretive and tactile hurdles. Attention should center on coordinating independent dynamic levels between hands while maintaining steady metric propulsion. Accompaniment passages containing broken classical triad figures and balanced inner dialogue require subdued dynamics to spotlight the melody. Mechanically, coordinate pedal depressions immediately after finger strikes to keep harmonies articulate. Recommended Exercise: practice left-hand harmonic leaps with closed eyes to develop spatial keyboard instinct. Score pointer: Follow the composer's harmonic progression. Focus on balanced voicing between the melody and accompaniment, observing tempo rubato and pedal markings.

Organized under a 4/4 time signature, the music exhibits a simple quadruple meter with 4 beats per measure. At ♩ = 92 BPM (Moderato grazioso), the pacing unfolds in a manner described as stable with buoyant, relaxed momentum. A core performance guideline: listen for the overarching four-bar hypermeter to keep phrases singing rather than measure-bound.

Set within the harmonic domain of C Major (zero sharps and zero flats), the score secures tonal focus on C. Expressive depth is enhanced through secondary pivots into A Minor and dominant reinforcement via G Major. Tonal construction prioritizes diatonic primary chords, balancing F Major warmth against dominant G Major tension. Physically, playing in this key offers a white-key keyboard terrain where maintaining firm knuckle support prevents flat-finger fatigue.
