In 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), rhythmic continuity is shaped by a steady common-time pulse providing natural rhythmic symmetry across four quarter-note subdivisions. The reference performance speed is ♩ = 97 BPM (*Andantino*), yielding a moderately flowing with clear articulation tempo profile. From a phrasing standpoint, subdivide internally with relaxed forearm weight to prevent metric stiffness across bar lines.

Benchmarked against Intermediate syllabus standards (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)), the work develops refined tonal control. Key hurdles center on projecting the cantabile soprano melody while suppressing inner accompaniment voices. Supporting figures featuring transparent two-part polyphony and classical Alberti motion need relaxed wrist cushioning. Pedal coordination: coordinate pedal depressions immediately after finger strikes to keep harmonies articulate. Practice Tip: practice left-hand harmonic leaps with closed eyes to develop spatial keyboard instinct.

Set within the harmonic domain of E Major (four sharps (F♯, C♯, G♯, D♯)), the score secures tonal focus on E. Expressive depth is enhanced through secondary pivots into C-sharp Minor and dominant reinforcement via B Major. Harmonically, the progression E → B → C#m → A weaves cohesive chordal shifts (C#m, A) supporting melodic variety before resolving. At the keyboard, E Major provides an ergonomic layout matching the hand's natural arch by elevating the middle finger positions.
