Arirang – Flute & Piano (E Minor)

Positioned within the Intermediate repertoire (transitional keyboard syllabus (ABRSM Grade 4 to Trinity Grade 5)), this work offers valuable training in balance and tone. Performers must concentrate on managing two-part hand coordination and synchronizing pedal changes with harmonic shifts. Navigating articulated bass staccatos against singing right-hand runs asks for deliberate finger weight distribution. To preserve clarity, coordinate pedal depressions immediately after finger strikes to keep harmonies articulate. Technical Drill: record your practice with emphasis on listening for crisp pedal releases on each harmonic pivot.

Rooted in the modern classical keyboard selections, Arirang – Flute & Piano (E Minor) stands as a representative work by Traditional World. The publication presents 2 pages totaling 40 notation measures, cross-checked against accurate modern sheet transcriptions. Digital music repositories index this composition under ISWC `T-22A.B3C.BF-1`.

Framed in E Minor, the score establishes E through a key signature featuring one sharp (F♯, with D♯ harmonic inflection). Harmonic variety is enriched through dialogue with the relative minor/major (G Major) alongside strong cadential support from B Major. Harmonically, the progression Em → Am → D → G → B7 concludes with an authentic resolution that firmly anchors the home pitch. From a tactile perspective, navigating this key delivers an introspective minor landscape that asks for flexible wrist cushioning during expressive descents.

Cast in 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), the score delivers a well-proportioned metric pulse alternating primary and secondary stresses across the measure. At ♩ = 107 BPM (*Animato*), the musical progression remains cheerful with buoyant rhythmic bounce. Pedagogical directive: listen for the overarching four-bar hypermeter to keep phrases singing rather than measure-bound.

1. Recital Staging: This selection integrates smoothly into formal piano masterclasses, recital auditions, and degree juries.

2. Key Customization: When adjusting the native tonality of E Minor, accompanists can shift down a step to D Minor for lower voice types or lift the melody into F-sharp Minor for tenors and sopranos. Woodwinds read comfortably using B Minor.

3. Licensing Status: The musical score belongs to the public domain, making it accessible for unrestricted performance and scholarly examination.
