B Me

Targeted at Intermediate players (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)), this score presents rewarding interpretive and tactile hurdles. Attention should center on projecting the cantabile soprano melody while suppressing inner accompaniment voices. Accompaniment passages containing flowing keyboard arpeggios that support emotional melodic peaks require subdued dynamics to spotlight the melody. Mechanically, execute full pedal clears at dynamic changes to highlight intimate moments. Practice Tip: drill awkward chord shifts at 60% tempo, ensuring fingers assume target hand shapes before descending.

Anchored in A Minor, this work utilizes a key signature of zero sharps and zero flats (with G♯ serving as raised harmonic seventh). The composer builds structural coherence around A, deploying the relative pole (C Major) to introduce tonal contrast before resolving through E Major. Harmonically, the progression Am → Dm → G → C → F → E7 moves through balanced harmonic transitions (F, E7) reinforcing the tonal root. Under the fingers, A Minor features a transparent acoustic space requiring disciplined finger independence on descending minor scales.
