This Christmas

Organized under a 4/4 time signature, the music exhibits a simple quadruple meter with 4 beats per measure. At ♩ = 94 BPM (Moderato), the pacing unfolds in a manner described as balanced with steady metric poise. A core performance guideline: listen for the overarching four-bar hypermeter to keep phrases singing rather than measure-bound.

The piece operates in E-flat Major, governed by a signature with three flats (B♭, E♭, A♭). This tonal center positions E♭ as the primary acoustic anchor, while C Minor and the dominant B-flat Major supply contrasting tonal colors. Tonal construction prioritizes diatonic primary chords, balancing A-flat Major warmth against dominant B-flat Major tension. From a tactile perspective, navigating this key delivers a majestic keyboard architecture where three flats naturally cushion fingers two, three, and four.

Curatorial Repertoire Role: The work serves as a reliable selection for popular piano showcases, private lessons, and collaborative sessions.

Tessitura & Key Transposition: While engraved in E-flat Major, the work accommodates vocal adjustments readily: modulating down into D-flat Major eases strain for baritones, whereas moving upward to F Major highlights brilliance in soprano or tenor solos.
