FUGA 2 Urtext Performance Practice Edition & Harmonic Study Guide

Framed in C Major, the score establishes C through a key signature featuring zero sharps and zero flats. Harmonic variety is enriched through dialogue with the relative minor/major (A Minor) alongside strong cadential support from G Major. Harmonically, the progression C → G → Am → F → Dm → G7 concludes with a questioning dominant pivot that commands forward continuation. In terms of hand topography, C Major yields an unadorned keyboard topography requiring precise thumb tucks without black-key tactile markers.

Rooted in the early 18th-century keyboard tradition, FUGA 2 stands as a representative work by Johann Sebastian Bach. The publication presents 2 pages totaling 48 notation measures, cross-checked against scholarly Urtext revisions and period manuscripts. Digital music repositories index this composition under ISWC `T-113.697.6E-1`.

Benchmarked against Easy syllabus standards (elementary benchmark (ABRSM/RCM Grade 2–3)), the work develops refined tonal control. Key hurdles center on securing rhythmic stability between hands and navigating gentle five-finger position changes. Supporting figures featuring Alberti bass patterns and contrapuntal voice exchanges need relaxed wrist cushioning. Pedal coordination: use light, shallow pedaling to enhance acoustic warmth without muddling inner voices. Preparatory Exercise: shadow-play the accompanimental chords silently while sounding the melodic line out loud.

Metric propulsion relies on 3/4 (simple triple meter), giving the piece a graceful waltz-like momentum that unfolds across three distinct quarter-note measures. Set to a metronome speed of ♩ = 122 BPM (*Animato*), the overall character feels cheerful with buoyant rhythmic bounce. Pianists should ensure that they keep forearm weight loose on beat one while gracefully floating through beats two and three.

• ✨Repertoire Setting: Recommended for conservatory juries, competition recitals, and academic examinations, the piece fits versatile programming needs.
• ✨Practical Transposition: Performers can shift the default tonality of C Major according to singer comfort: a downward transition to B-flat Major reduces top-range vocal demands, while modulating to D Major enhances acoustic carrying power for solo recitals.
• ✨Rights Verification: This title stands in the global public domain, enabling unhindered study, liturgical execution, and recital programming.
