Heartbeat Piano Solo Arrangement with Chords, Metronome & BPM

This Intermediate publication (intermediate benchmark (ABRSM/RCM Grade 4–6)) serves as an instructive study in keyboard voicing. Pianists must address managing two-part hand coordination and synchronizing pedal changes with harmonic shifts. Passages dominated by broken arpeggio figures and modern pulse chords benefit from conscious dynamic shading. Regarding pedal usage, coordinate pedaling with chord changes to maintain acoustic warmth. Practice Tip: practice left-hand harmonic leaps with closed eyes to develop spatial keyboard instinct.

The piece operates in B-flat Major, governed by a signature with two flats (B♭, E♭). This tonal center positions B♭ as the primary acoustic anchor, while G Minor and the dominant F Major supply contrasting tonal colors. Harmonically, the progression B → flat → G → Am → F → Dm suspends tension over an active dominant chord awaiting tonal release. Pianistically, the key produces a warm resonance widely preferred in winds and vocal hymnody, fitting standard hand spans comfortably.

Attributed to Peven Viwen, Heartbeat forms an integral entry in the contemporary pop piano repertory. Laid out across 4 pages containing 76 measures, this score draws authenticity from verified performance editions and modern engravings. Work tracking associates this edition with ISWC identifier `T-6AE.BE1.C1-1` and registry `mbid-6aebe1c1-pianistforum`.

In 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), rhythmic continuity is shaped by a steady common-time pulse providing natural rhythmic symmetry across four quarter-note subdivisions. The reference performance speed is ♩ = 129 BPM (*Allegro con brio*), yielding a brisk with sparkling rhythmic excitement tempo profile. From a phrasing standpoint, subdivide internally with relaxed forearm weight to prevent metric stiffness across bar lines.

Curatorial Repertoire Role: The work serves as a reliable selection for popular piano showcases, private lessons, and collaborative sessions.

Tessitura & Key Transposition: While engraved in B-flat Major, the work accommodates vocal adjustments readily: modulating down into A-flat Major eases strain for baritones, whereas moving upward to C Major highlights brilliance in soprano or tenor solos.
