In 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), rhythmic continuity is shaped by a steady common-time pulse providing natural rhythmic symmetry across four quarter-note subdivisions. The reference performance speed is ♩ = 88 BPM (*Andantino*), yielding a moderately flowing with clear articulation tempo profile. From a phrasing standpoint, avoid pounding downbeats mechanically; keep the line buoyant through intermediate pulses.

Cast in C Major (zero sharps and zero flats), the composition organizes its melodic arcs around C. Dynamic tension arises from modulatory motion toward the relative mode of A Minor, balanced by harmonic stabilization from F Major. When programming this selection, music educators frequently schedule Passionen for formal piano masterclasses, recital auditions, and degree juries. Beyond the primary engraving in C Major, collaborative accompanists can adapt the key: lower voices (alto/bass) benefit from transposing into B-flat Major, while high voices gain projection in D Major. Ensembles may utilize G Major for brass fingerings.
