RAMENER LA COUPE A LA MAISON

Tonal grounding is defined by C Major, marked in the score by zero sharps and zero flats. The music alternates stability on C with expressive harmonic excursions toward A Minor and its parallel relation, C Minor. Harmonically, the progression C → G → Am → F → Dm → G7 suspends tension over an active dominant chord awaiting tonal release. Physically, playing in this key offers an all-natural keyboard surface requiring firm curved finger knuckles to prevent sliding on ivory white naturals.

Metric propulsion relies on 3/4 (simple triple meter), giving the piece a balanced triple pulse that balances grounded downbeats against two buoyant lifting beats. Set to a metronome speed of ♩ = 125 BPM (*Tempo di marcia*), the overall character feels spirited with crisp finger articulation. Pianists should ensure that they feel the larger one-in-a-bar gesture to keep phrases airborne rather than stomping on each quarter note.

This Intermediate publication (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)) serves as an instructive study in keyboard voicing. Pianists must address achieving fluid finger legato without relying on the damper pedal to mask uneven key releases. Passages dominated by flowing keyboard arpeggios that support emotional melodic peaks benefit from conscious dynamic shading. Regarding pedal usage, execute full pedal clears at dynamic changes to highlight intimate moments. Study Routine: practice left-hand harmonic leaps with closed eyes to develop spatial keyboard instinct.
