REMEDY

Created by TiffiCity Girl, the composition REMEDY demonstrates notable craftsmanship within the popular pop sheet music repertoire. Encompassing 60 measures over 3 engraved pages, the work is collated from verified performance editions and modern engravings. Authority databases register this work as `mbid-1905e82c-pianistforum` and ISWC `T-190.5E8.2C-1`.

Pedagogically suited for Intermediate students (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)), this piece develops essential touch control. Key challenges focus on projecting the cantabile soprano melody while suppressing inner accompaniment voices. In sections with flowing keyboard arpeggios that support emotional melodic peaks, maintain flexible forearm rotation to prevent stiffness. Pedaling requirement: coordinate pedaling with chord changes to maintain acoustic warmth. Practice Tip: drill awkward chord shifts at 60% tempo, ensuring fingers assume target hand shapes before descending.

Anchored in C Major, this work utilizes a key signature of zero sharps and zero flats. The composer builds structural coherence around C, deploying the relative pole (A Minor) to introduce tonal contrast before resolving through G Major. Harmonically, the progression C → G → Am → F → Dm → G7 concludes with a questioning dominant pivot that commands forward continuation. Under the fingers, C Major features a natural diatonic surface where the absence of black keys demands disciplined hand stability and balanced posture.

Metric propulsion relies on 3/4 (simple triple meter), giving the piece a graceful waltz-like momentum that unfolds across three distinct quarter-note measures. Set to a metronome speed of ♩ = 101 BPM (*Moderato grazioso*), the overall character feels stable with buoyant, relaxed momentum. Pianists should ensure that they keep forearm weight loose on beat one while gracefully floating through beats two and three.

Performance Applications: In performance programming, REMEDY is well matched for popular piano showcases, private lessons, and collaborative sessions.

Transposition Guide: To accommodate diverse vocal registers, accompanists can transpose the C Major score: baritones rest easily in B-flat Major, while lyric tenors and high soloists project effortlessly in D Major.
