Targeted at Intermediate players (mid-tier conservatory syllabus (ABRSM Grade 5 standard)), this score presents rewarding interpretive and tactile hurdles. Attention should center on achieving fluid finger legato without relying on the damper pedal to mask uneven key releases. Accompaniment passages containing broken classical triad figures and balanced inner dialogue require subdued dynamics to spotlight the melody. Mechanically, use light, shallow pedaling to enhance acoustic warmth without muddling inner voices. Practice Recommendation: play the melody forte while ghost-tapping the accompaniment keys silently beneath the surface.

Anchored in C-sharp Minor, this work utilizes a key signature of four sharps (F♯, C♯, G♯, D♯, alongside B♯ leading tone). The composer builds structural coherence around C♯, deploying the relative pole (E Major) to introduce tonal contrast before resolving through G-sharp Major. Harmonically, the progression C#m → F#m → B → E → G#7 cycles smoothly through harmonic steps (E, G#7) back toward the tonic. In terms of hand topography, C-sharp Minor yields a fiery minor key landscape where four raised pitches support powerful dynamic accents from the arm.

Rhythmic momentum flows through a 4/4 metric framework (simple quadruple meter). Calibrated to ♩ = 68 BPM (*Andante*), the piece moves with a flowing at a graceful walking pace pulse. As a practical study rule, listen for the overarching four-bar hypermeter to keep phrases singing rather than measure-bound.

Curatorial Repertoire Role: The work serves as a reliable selection for formal piano masterclasses, recital auditions, and degree juries.

Tessitura & Key Transposition: When adjusting the native tonality of C-sharp Minor, accompanists can shift down a step to B Minor for lower voice types or lift the melody into D-sharp Minor for tenors and sopranos. Woodwinds read comfortably using G-sharp Minor.
