Skyfall

Tonal grounding is defined by C Major, marked in the score by zero sharps and zero flats. The music alternates stability on C with expressive harmonic excursions toward A Minor and its parallel relation, C Minor. Harmonically, the progression C → G → Am → F → Dm → G7 rests on a half-cadential dominant harmony that builds musical anticipation. For the performer, this layout is characterized by a white-key keyboard terrain where maintaining firm knuckle support prevents flat-finger fatigue.

Created by Adele, the composition Skyfall demonstrates notable craftsmanship within the contemporary pop piano repertory. Encompassing 81 measures over 4 engraved pages, the work is collated from standard contemporary studio engravings. Authority databases register this work as `mbid-38acefc3-pianistforum` and ISWC `T-38A.CEF.C3-1`.

In 3/4 (simple triple meter), rhythmic continuity is shaped by a flowing triple lilt characteristic of classical minuets and romantic waltzes. The reference performance speed is ♩ = 89 BPM (*Moderato*), yielding a balanced with steady metric poise tempo profile. From a phrasing standpoint, shape the measure as a unified arc rather than counting three equal ticks.

Targeted at Intermediate players (intermediate benchmark (ABRSM/RCM Grade 4–6)), this score presents rewarding interpretive and tactile hurdles. Attention should center on managing two-part hand coordination and synchronizing pedal changes with harmonic shifts. Accompaniment passages containing broken arpeggio figures and modern pulse chords require subdued dynamics to spotlight the melody. Mechanically, coordinate pedaling with chord changes to maintain acoustic warmth. Practice Tip: practice left-hand harmonic leaps with closed eyes to develop spatial keyboard instinct.

1. Recital Staging: This selection integrates smoothly into community music performances and versatile studio accompaniment.

2. Key Customization: The default key of C Major suits standard instrumental ranges. Vocalists seeking a lower tessitura can transpose down to B-flat Major, while high-register singers modulate up to D Major. B♭ brass transpose to D Major.

3. Licensing Status: Archived for instructional reference subject to `unknown`, curated for academic score evaluation.
