Pedagogically suited for Intermediate students (intermediate benchmark (ABRSM/RCM Grade 4–6)), this piece develops essential touch control. Key challenges focus on projecting the cantabile soprano melody while suppressing inner accompaniment voices. In sections with Alberti bass patterns and contrapuntal voice exchanges, maintain flexible forearm rotation to prevent stiffness. Pedaling requirement: coordinate pedal depressions immediately after finger strikes to keep harmonies articulate. Practice Focus: play the melody forte while ghost-tapping the accompaniment keys silently beneath the surface.

With B Minor as the primary tonal anchor, the notation designates two sharps (F♯, C♯, featuring A♯ leading tone). Phrase arches gravitate toward B, counterpointed by coloristic pivots into D Major and subdominant foundations in E Minor. Harmonically, the progression Bm → Em → A → D → F#7 cycles smoothly through harmonic steps (D, F#7) back toward the tonic. At the keyboard, B Minor provides a passionate tonal register that calls for disciplined hand posture during stormy polyphonic episodes.

In 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), rhythmic continuity is shaped by a steady common-time pulse providing natural rhythmic symmetry across four quarter-note subdivisions. The reference performance speed is ♩ = 117 BPM (*Allegro moderato*), yielding a lively with energetic forward stride tempo profile. From a phrasing standpoint, subdivide internally with relaxed forearm weight to prevent metric stiffness across bar lines.
