Speedbumps Piano Solo Arrangement with Chords, Metronome & BPM

Benchmarked against Intermediate syllabus standards (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)), the work develops refined tonal control. Key hurdles center on managing two-part hand coordination and synchronizing pedal changes with harmonic shifts. Supporting figures featuring flowing keyboard arpeggios that support emotional melodic peaks need relaxed wrist cushioning. Pedal coordination: feather the pedal to sustain bass notes without drowning upper textures. Practice Tip: drill awkward chord shifts at 60% tempo, ensuring fingers assume target hand shapes before descending.

Metric propulsion relies on 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), giving the piece a well-proportioned metric pulse alternating primary and secondary stresses across the measure. Set to a metronome speed of ♩ = 108 BPM (*Animato*), the overall character feels cheerful with buoyant rhythmic bounce. Pianists should ensure that they listen for the overarching four-bar hypermeter to keep phrases singing rather than measure-bound.

Set within the harmonic domain of C Minor (three flats (B♭, E♭, A♭, with B♮ raised leading tone)), the score secures tonal focus on C. Expressive depth is enhanced through secondary pivots into E-flat Major and dominant reinforcement via G Major. Harmonically, the progression Cm → Dm → G → C → F → E7 weaves cohesive chordal shifts (F, E7) supporting melodic variety before resolving. Under the fingers, C Minor features Beethoven's stormy canvas of defiance and tragedy, demanding firm fingertip arching on heavy downbeats.
