Waltz in C Major (2) Urtext Performance Practice Edition & Harmonic Study Guide

Positioned within the Easy repertoire (early-grades syllabus (ABRSM Grade 2 standard)), this work offers valuable training in balance and tone. Performers must concentrate on maintaining steady hand placement, preventing collapsed knuckles, and releasing notes cleanly. Navigating broken classical triad figures and balanced inner dialogue asks for deliberate finger weight distribution. To preserve clarity, use light, shallow pedaling to enhance acoustic warmth without muddling inner voices. Study Routine: rehearse hands individually with a metronome at slow speeds before coordinating hands together.

The score Waltz in C Major (2), composed by Carulli, reflects the stylistic idioms of the popular classical sheet music repertoire. This edition contains 41 measures formatted across 2 pages, corroborated through verified performance editions and modern engravings. Worldwide rights catalogs anchor this title under ISWC code `T-397.08A.CB-1`.

Framed in E Minor, the score establishes E through a key signature featuring one sharp (F♯, with D♯ harmonic inflection). Harmonic variety is enriched through dialogue with the relative minor/major (G Major) alongside strong cadential support from B Major. Harmonically, the progression Em → Dm → G → C → F → E7 navigates expressive chord variations (F, E7) returning home cleanly. Under the fingers, E Minor features a somber keyboard realm where navigating between D♯ and the tonic E requires attentive finger placement.

The temporal design is written in 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), establishing an authoritative quadruple framework where downbeat accents anchor the overarching phrase architecture. The indicated tempo mark of ♩ = 115 BPM (*Tempo di marcia*) suggests an atmosphere that is spirited with crisp finger articulation. Interpretively, channel energy through the middle beats toward subsequent downbeats to preserve continuous phrasing arcs.

Curatorial Repertoire Role: The work serves as a reliable selection for studio recitals, competitive festivals, and scholarly score readings.

Tessitura & Key Transposition: To accommodate diverse vocal registers, accompanists can transpose the E Minor score: baritones rest easily in D Minor, while lyric tenors and high soloists project effortlessly in F-sharp Minor.
