Targeted at Intermediate players (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)), this score presents rewarding interpretive and tactile hurdles. Attention should center on projecting the cantabile soprano melody while suppressing inner accompaniment voices. Accompaniment passages containing transparent two-part polyphony and classical Alberti motion require subdued dynamics to spotlight the melody. Mechanically, coordinate pedal depressions immediately after finger strikes to keep harmonies articulate. Technical Drill: drill awkward chord shifts at 60% tempo, ensuring fingers assume target hand shapes before descending.

The foundational pitch center is A-flat Major (four flats (B♭, E♭, A♭, D♭)). Here, A♭ serves as the primary resting point, while modulations into F Minor and dominant tensions in E-flat Major shape the emotional contour. Harmonically, the progression Ab → Eb → Fm → Db navigates expressive chord variations (Fm, Db) returning home cleanly. Pianistically, the key produces a velvety tonal world where four flat keys provide comfortable tactile perches for the longer fingers.
