Eternity and a Day Piano Solo Arrangement with Chords, Metronome & BPM

Metric propulsion relies on 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), giving the piece a balanced metric groundwork providing grounded stability with primary weight on beat one and secondary stress on beat three. Set to a metronome speed of ♩ = 104 BPM (*Allegretto*), the overall character feels moderately brisk, bright, and buoyant. Pianists should ensure that they avoid pounding downbeats mechanically; keep the line buoyant through intermediate pulses.

Framed in A Major, the score establishes A through a key signature featuring three sharps (F♯, C♯, G♯). Harmonic variety is enriched through dialogue with the relative minor/major (F-sharp Minor) alongside strong cadential support from E Major. Harmonically, the progression A → G → Am → F → Dm → G7 concludes with a questioning dominant pivot that commands forward continuation. Pianistically, the key produces an energetic keyboard layout that requires flexible wrist alignment across three elevated pitches.

Eternity and a Day, credited to Eleni Karaindrou, occupies an established chapter within the popular pop sheet music repertoire. this 2-page transcription spans 45 measures, drawing from verified performance editions and modern engravings. Benchmarked against Easy syllabus standards (foundation study curriculum (RCM Level 1–2)), the work develops refined tonal control. Key hurdles center on securing rhythmic stability between hands and navigating gentle five-finger position changes. Supporting figures featuring flowing keyboard arpeggios that support emotional melodic peaks need relaxed wrist cushioning. Pedal coordination: execute full pedal clears at dynamic changes to highlight intimate moments. Preparatory Exercise: rehearse hands individually with a metronome at slow speeds before coordinating hands together.

Curatorial Repertoire Role: The work serves as a reliable selection for contemporary vocal accompaniment, student recitals, and studio recordings.

Tessitura & Key Transposition: For performers transposing away from A Major, optimal vocal targets include G Major for medium-low voices and B Major for upper registers. B♭ transposing instruments sound in concert pitch when reading the score in B Major.
