Frittered Time Piano Solo Arrangement with Chords, Metronome & BPM

Attributed to Tommy Burch, Frittered Time forms an integral entry in the popular pop sheet music repertoire. Laid out across 2 pages containing 48 measures, this score draws authenticity from verified performance editions and modern engravings. Work tracking associates this edition with ISWC identifier `T-8EE.9BF.77-1` and registry `mbid-8ee9bf77-pianistforum`.

Metric propulsion relies on 3/4 (simple triple meter), giving the piece a balanced triple pulse that balances grounded downbeats against two buoyant lifting beats. Set to a metronome speed of ♩ = 107 BPM (*Tempo di marcia*), the overall character feels spirited with crisp finger articulation. Pianists should ensure that they keep forearm weight loose on beat one while gracefully floating through beats two and three.

Framed in D Minor, the score establishes D through a key signature featuring one flat (B♭, with C♯ harmonic leading tone). Harmonic variety is enriched through dialogue with the relative minor/major (F Major) alongside strong cadential support from A Major. Harmonically, the progression Dm → G → C → F → E7 navigates expressive chord variations (F, E7) returning home cleanly. Physically, playing in this key offers a dark contrapuntal space historically chosen for monumental fugues, passacaglias, and somber melodies.

Graded at the Easy level (early-grades syllabus (ABRSM Grade 2 standard)), the score fosters disciplined keyboard ergonomics. The primary technical hurdle involves executing clean thumb crossings beneath fingers two and three during scalar shifts. When negotiating cinematic rolling bass sweeps and sustained chord foundations, ensure the singing melody stays dynamically elevated over the accompaniment. Acoustically, execute full pedal clears at dynamic changes to highlight intimate moments. Study Routine: rehearse hands individually with a metronome at slow speeds before coordinating hands together.

1. Recital Staging: This selection integrates smoothly into contemporary vocal accompaniment, student recitals, and studio recordings.

2. Key Customization: While engraved in D Minor, the work accommodates vocal adjustments readily: modulating down into C Minor eases strain for baritones, whereas moving upward to E Minor highlights brilliance in soprano or tenor solos.

3. Licensing Status: Distributed as an educational study score under `unknown`, formatted for analytical classroom research.
