Goodness Of God
▶️ Don't miss this Song of the Day ◀️
There are songs I enjoy for a season, and then there are songs that seem to find me exactly when I need them most. “Goodness Of God” is one of those songs.
FULL LYRICS:
The first time I heard it, I wasn’t looking for a new worship song. It simply came on while I was driving home after a long day. I don’t remember every detail about that afternoon, but I remember one line that stayed with me long after the music ended:
“All my life You have been faithful.”
I didn’t sing along the first time.
Instead, I found myself quietly thinking about those words.
When life is going well, it’s easy to say that God is good. But what about the days when prayers seem unanswered? What about the seasons when you’re waiting, grieving, or wondering why God feels silent?
That’s where this song has spoken to me the most.
Goodness Of God doesn’t ignore life’s difficult moments. It simply chooses to look at them through the lens of God’s faithfulness. It reminds me that His goodness isn’t measured by whether life goes according to my plans. It’s seen in the countless ways He continues to walk beside me, even when I don’t immediately notice it.
Looking back, I can think of so many ordinary moments that felt insignificant at the time.
A door that closed before I realized it wasn’t meant for me.
A conversation that gave me hope when I was ready to give up.
A prayer that seemed unanswered until months later, when I finally understood why God had asked me to wait.
None of those moments felt extraordinary while I was living them. But together, they tell a story of a God who has been quietly faithful all along.
That’s why this worship song means so much to me.
It isn’t asking me to pretend life has always been easy. Instead, it invites me to remember that God has always been present.
The Bible says in Psalm 23:6:
“Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life.”
I’ve read that verse many times, but hearing it reflected through this song makes it feel deeply personal. God’s goodness isn’t something I have to earn. It isn’t reserved for my best days. It follows me even through the days when my faith feels small.
One thing I appreciate about Goodness Of God is how honest it feels. The lyrics aren’t trying to impress anyone. They sound like someone simply looking back over life and realizing, “God was there the whole time.”
I think that’s why this song has connected with millions of Christians around the world.
Everyone has a different story.
Some remember God’s faithfulness through healing.
Others through unexpected provision.
Others through the quiet strength to keep going one more day.
The details are different, but the conclusion is often the same:
God never stopped being good.
Whenever I listen to Goodness Of God now, I don’t just hear beautiful music. I hear a reminder to slow down and notice the blessings I usually overlook—the prayers I forgot God answered, the protection I never saw, and the grace that carried me through seasons I couldn’t have survived on my own.
Maybe that’s why this song continues to touch so many hearts.
Not because it promises a perfect life.
But because it points to a perfectly faithful God.
And the older I get, the more I realize that His goodness is often easiest to see when I take a moment to look back.
If you’ve never really listened to Goodness Of God, don’t just let it play in the background. Listen to the words. Then think about your own story.
You may discover that, even through the chapters you wouldn’t choose to relive, God has been writing a story of faithfulness all along.
And perhaps you’ll find yourself quietly singing the same words with a deeper understanding:
“All my life You have been faithful. All my life You have been so, so good.”
