His Name Is Wonderful
▶️ Don't miss this Song of the Day ◀️
Some hymns impress us with beautiful melodies. Others stay with us because of the memories they carry. But every now and then, a hymn does something different—it gently brings our attention back to Jesus without asking for anything in return. That’s what “His Name Is Wonderful” has always been for me.
The first time I heard this hymn, I was surprised by how simple it was. There are no complicated lyrics or dramatic moments. It simply repeats one truth over and over: His name is wonderful.
At first, those words almost seemed too simple.
But the more I listened, the more I realized that maybe faith doesn’t always need complicated explanations. Sometimes my heart just needs to be reminded of who Jesus is.
There have been days when I opened this hymn without expecting much. Not because I was looking for a miracle, but because I needed a few quiet minutes away from the noise. Somehow, every time those familiar words begin, everything else becomes a little less important.
It’s hard to explain.
Nothing around me changes immediately. The problems are still there. The unanswered prayers don’t suddenly disappear. But my perspective changes. Instead of focusing on everything I can’t control, my heart slowly returns to the One who never changes.
That’s the quiet beauty of this hymn.
In a world where we’re constantly searching for answers, His Name Is Wonderful reminds us that sometimes the greatest comfort isn’t finding an answer—it’s remembering the Person who walks with us through every unanswered question.
FULL LYRICS:
One verse that often comes to mind while listening is Philippians 2:9–10:
“God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.”
The hymn doesn’t try to explain why His name is wonderful. It simply invites us to stop for a moment and remember.
Remember His mercy.
Remember His faithfulness.
Remember the cross.
Remember the empty tomb.
And remember that the same Jesus who changed lives two thousand years ago is still changing hearts today.
I think that’s why this hymn has lasted for generations. It isn’t built on changing musical styles or emotional performances. Its strength is found in its message. No matter where we are in life—whether we’re celebrating, grieving, waiting, or simply feeling tired—the name of Jesus remains the same.
Whenever I listen to His Name Is Wonderful, I don’t feel like I’m checking off another worship song. It feels more like sitting quietly with God after a long day, with nothing impressive to say and nothing to prove.
Just gratitude.
Just peace.
Just the quiet reminder that before I bring Him my worries, my plans, or my questions, His name alone is already enough to lift my eyes above them.
And perhaps that’s why this simple hymn continues to touch hearts after so many years.
Because sometimes, the most meaningful worship isn’t found in saying more.
It’s found in remembering the wonderful name of Jesus.
