What A Beautiful Name – The Worship Song That Reminds Me Who Jesus Really Is
There are worship songs that sound beautiful because of the music, and then there are songs that stay with you because of the truth they carry. “What A Beautiful Name” is one of those songs for me.
FULL LYRICS:
I remember hearing it for the first time without really paying attention to the lyrics. The melody was peaceful, and it was easy to understand why so many churches sang it. But after listening a few more times, I realized this song wasn’t trying to impress anyone with powerful vocals or complicated music.
It was simply pointing to Jesus.
That changed the way I listened.
Life has a way of filling our minds with endless distractions. Work, responsibilities, worries about tomorrow, and the constant noise of the world can slowly pull our attention away from what matters most. Sometimes I don’t need another motivational speech or another piece of advice. I just need to be reminded of who Jesus is.
That’s exactly what What A Beautiful Name does.
The song doesn’t focus on what we can do for God. Instead, it focuses on who He is—His love, His sacrifice, His victory over death, and the hope we have because of Him.
One of the reasons this worship song has meant so much to me is because it always brings my heart back to the cross.
It’s easy to become familiar with the story of Jesus. I’ve heard it countless times, yet this song helps me hear it with fresh gratitude. It reminds me that the cross wasn’t just a historical event. It was the greatest expression of love the world has ever known.
Whenever I listen to this song, I find myself slowing down.
Not because life suddenly becomes easier, but because it reminds me that my circumstances are not the center of the story. Jesus is.
That perspective changes everything.
The words of Philippians 2:9–11 often come to mind:
“Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
That promise gives the title of this song even greater meaning. His name is beautiful—not simply because it sounds beautiful, but because of everything it represents.
A love that never gives up.
Looking back over my own life, I can think of moments when I felt uncertain about the future or disappointed by things that didn’t go as planned. Those seasons didn’t disappear overnight, but worship songs like What A Beautiful Namereminded me that Jesus was still worthy of my trust, even when I didn’t have all the answers.
I think that’s why millions of people around the world continue to connect with this song.
It doesn’t promise a life without pain.
It doesn’t tell us every prayer will be answered the way we expect.
Instead, it quietly reminds us that the One who conquered sin and death is still with us today.
And sometimes, that’s exactly the reminder we need.
Every time I hear What A Beautiful Name, I leave with the same thought.
The beauty of Jesus has never depended on the music we sing about Him. His beauty has always been seen in His love for broken people, His compassion for the hurting, and His willingness to give everything so that we could know Him.
That’s a truth that never grows old.
Long after the final note fades away, the message remains.
His name is still beautiful.
His name is still powerful.
And His name is still the greatest hope this world will ever know.
